Inhibitor Supply & Testing
It is important to continually monitor the corrosion inhibitor additives in glycol heat transfer fluids as they may need to be refortified over time. This may be due to operating temperatures, contamination, fluid dilution with source water, or simply time. If glycol concentrations are on target yet corrosion inhibitor levels are low, NOCO can provide the inhibitor chemistry and treat rate to adjust the glycol heat transfer fluid to optimal levels for corrosion and scale protection. If you’re not sure of the chemistry, we can test for that too and help establish a baseline for what the appropriate levels should be.

Water Supply & testing
The quality of water that is used to mix with glycol heat transfer fluids is critical to overall performance of the fluid. As a producer of glycol heat transfer fluids, NOCO Energy and other producers, must meet ASTM D8039 standards and therefore, MAXTECH® Glycol Heat Transfer Fluids are made with ASTM D1193 deionized water.
ASTM D8039 provides the following guidance for non-producers: When preparing solutions, the water should be of such quality that it does not contain excessive solids, hardness salts, sulfates, or chlorides. In the absence of specific recommendations from HVAC system manufacturer, see ASTM D8039 Table 4. Contact your local water department, the responsible government agency, or submit a water sample for analysis, if there is a question on water quality.
NOCO supplies deionized water in tanker truck, totes, drums or pails.
Testing & Recommended Adjustments
Testing the concentration with a refractometer or the pH with a test strip only account for two characteristics of many that contribute to the overall health and performance of glycol heat transfer fluids. With NOCO’s certified, third-party analysis, we test and monitor multiple characteristics to identify the chemical constituents that will either prolong the life of your glycol fluid or cause it to degrade at a rapid rate. Based on the analysis we can work with your team to make the necessary adjustments to bring the fluid back to its optimal state and establish a baseline to ensure preventative maintenance measures.
